A firing incident occurred in the Theur area of Pune, on Saturday at around 8:15 pm. The incident took place near the Jay Malhar Hotel, where a group of four to five individuals in a Fortuner car (MH-12-8262) got into an altercation with a watchman, Akshay Sahastrabuddhe Chavan.

The altercation began when the individuals questioned Chavan about why he had stopped to urinate in the area, claiming that Chavan’s wife was present nearby. The situation escalated, and the individuals physically assaulted Chavan and his wife, Shital Akshay Chavan, 32, who suffered serious injuries.

Following the assault, the individuals fired shots in the air and attempted to flee the scene. However, the police were alerted, and a team from the Crime Branch Unit 6, led by Satish Lokhande, was dispatched to the area.

The police managed to intercept the Fortuner car at Theur Phata and apprehended three individuals: Satish Lokhande, 31, Ajay Mundhe, 26, and Bhanudas Shelar, 32, all residents of Chimbali Phata, Khed, Pune. A pistol and some cartridges were seized from their possession.

The police are still searching for the remaining three individuals who escaped under the cover of darkness. The injured woman, Shital Chavan, is reported to be in stable condition. The incident is being investigated by the Lonikand Police Station, and a case has been registered.
