Tamil Nadu Youth Rescued from Kidnappers in Pune, 6 Arrested

The sleuths of Pune Crime Branch has successfully rescued a 35-year-old youth from Tamil Nadu who was kidnapped and being held captive in Pune. The police have arrested six accused in connection with the case.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, had left for Mumbai on January 6, 2025. However, on January 9, 2025, between 9 am and 10 am, he called his relatives in Tamil Nadu and informed them that he had been kidnapped and was being held captive in Pune.

The police swung into action and traced the location of the victim to a hotel in Hadapsar, Pune. A team of police officers, led by DCP Nikhil Pingale, raided the hotel and rescued the victim.

The six accused, identified as Mohammed Farman Meherban (27) of Uttar Pradesh , Arjun Kumar Shivkumar (28), Devendra Sunil Alabhar(25) AhilyaNagar, Ankit Arjun Adagale (25) of Mumbai , Avinash Dattatray Kadam ( 43) of Shikarpur, and Priyank Rana Devendra Rana (33) Uttarakhand , have been arrested and charged under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police have also seized ₹30,000 worth of foreign currency from the accused. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are probing the involvement of other accused in the case.

The rescue operation was carried out under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, Assistant Commissioner (II) of Police Rajendra Mulik , Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar, and his staff.
