Superintendent Charansingh Rajput Honored for Outstanding Work in Eradicating Illicit Liquor.
Superintendent Charansingh Rajput, the Excise Superintendent of Pune, was honored for his outstanding work in eradicating illicit liquor and hooch dens in Pune district ¹. His efforts led to the closure of 223 out of 285 hooch dens, resulting in a significant increase in revenue for the state government. The sale of country liquor increased by 45 lakh liters, a 12% rise from the previous year.
Rajput’s initiatives also targeted the smuggling of counterfeit liquor from Goa, Daman, and Diu. His efforts led to the seizure of over 1,000 vehicles and the filing of 12,000 cases against illicit liquor and hooch vendors. The Maharashtra State Liquor Vendors Association praised Rajput’s “Rajput Pattern” of working, which has become a model for the state.
As the Excise Superintendent, Rajput’s primary function is to collect Excise duty on alcoholic products and regulate the trade of these products ¹. His work has had a significant impact on the state’s revenue and has helped to reduce the illicit liquor trade in Pune district.
