PUNE: YOUTH BEATEN TO DEATH OVER PETROL THEFT ALLEGATION
Pune, December 3, 2024: A 20-year-old youth, Samarth Netaji Bhagat, lost his life after being brutally assaulted by a group of men in Narhe, Pune. The incident occurred on November 25 after the victim was mistaken for a petrol thief.
According to the police, Samarth’s motorcycle had run out of petrol, and he was siphoning fuel from another bike. However, the accused, including Gaurav Sanjay Kute, Ajinkya Chandrakant Gandale, and Rahul Somnath Lohar, allegedly attacked him with punches and kicks.
The victim was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital. The police have registered a case against four individuals, including former deputy sarpanch Sushant Suresh Kute, who remains absconding.
The Sinhagad Road Police have arrested three of the accused and are conducting further investigations. The incident has raised concerns about mob violence and the importance of verifying facts before taking the law into one’s own hands.
