Pune Police Bust Gang Using Dating App to Target LGBTQ+ Community

In a shocking incident, the Pune police have arrested a gang of three individuals who used the “Grindr” dating app to lure and rob members of the LGBTQ+ community. The gang, which operated in the DSK Road to Raikar Mala area, would befriend victims on the app and then assault them, stealing valuables such as cash, mobile phones, and other items.

According to the police, the gang took advantage of the fear of social stigma to target their victims, who were hesitant to report the incidents. The arrested individuals have confessed to using the “Grindr” app to connect with gay men and then rob them ¹.

The police have identified the prime accused as Bharat Kisan Dhindle (18), a resident of Dhayri. The arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Police Commissioner Sambhaji Kadam stated that the police are committed to protecting the rights and safety of all citizens, including the LGBTQ+ community.
