Pune Crime Rate Spirals Out of Control: Ajit Pawar Slams Senior Police Officers

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has expressed extreme disappointment over the rising crime rate in Pune, squarely blaming senior police officers for their inability to control the situation ¹. Despite the state government providing necessary infrastructure, including better housing facilities, new offices, and vehicles, the police department has failed to maintain law and order in the city.

Pune, the second-largest city in Maharashtra, has been plagued by “koyta” gangs, known for their brutal tactics. The latest incident, a murder in the parking lot of a company in Yerawada, has left the city shocked. Pawar has warned that if senior police officers are unable to control the crime situation, the state government will bring in new officers to manage and improve the city’s law and order situation.

He has also announced a separate meeting with senior police officers to discuss the rising crimes in the city. This development comes after the state government received a massive mandate in the assembly elections. Ajit Pawar emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to fulfill the expectations of the people, and they must not disappoint them.
