Pune Crime Branch Crack Down on Gas Theft Racket, One Arrested
In a significant operation, the Unit-6 of Pune Crime branch busted a gas theft racket in Lonikand, Pune, and arrested one person, Madan Madhav Bamane (20). The police have recovered stolen goods worth over ₹2.24 lakh.
According to the police, Bamane was stealing gas from domestic cylinders using a makeshift nozzle and selling it to customers through his gas service center, Jay Malhar Gas Service.
The police team, led by Police Inspector Vaahid Pathan, Assistant Police Inspector Madan Kamble, and Police sub Inspector Ramkrishna Dalvi, conducted a raid on Bamane’s gas service center and seized several stolen gas cylinders, nozzles, and other equipment.
The police have registered a case against Bamane under sections 283 and 284 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (IPC) and relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Mulik.
The police team involved in the operation included PSI Ramesh Memane, Nitin Munde, Kanifnath Karkhele, Rushikesh Vyavahare, Shekhar Kote, Pratiksaha Pansar and Suhas Tambekar.
The Pune Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity related to gas theft or other crimes.
