Crackdown on Liquor Shops: Excise Department Seals 30 Establishments

In a massive crackdown, the Excise Department and District Collector have sealed over 30 liquor shops, wine shops, and beer shops in Pune, Pimpri, Chinchwad, and other areas. The action was taken due to alleged irregularities by the liquor shop owners, including non-compliance with rules and regulations.

The Excise Department initiated the action after the District Collector issued an order to take strict action against illegal sale of liquor during the Vidhan Sabha General Elections. The sealed establishments include wine shops, beer shops, permit rooms, and country liquor bars located in various areas.

According to the Superintendent of Excise, Charansing Rajput, the department had initiated action against 110 beer shops, liquor shops, and wine shops during the period of code of conduct. The shop owners were found to be violating rules and regulations, including not maintaining registers, not following opening and closing timings, and selling liquor in wholesale despite warnings.
