Pune: In a disturbing incident, an IT engineer and BJP worker, Devendra Purushottam Jog, was brutally assaulted by members of the notorious Gajanan Marne gang while he was riding his two-wheeler through a Shiv Jayanti procession in Bhelke Nagar, Kothrud, on Wednesday evening.

According to the complaint filed by Jog at the Kothrud police station, he was riding his two-wheeler around 4 pm on Wednesday when he came across the procession. As he was passing through the crowd, some persons intercepted him and accused him of dashing into them. The situation quickly escalated, and the gang members allegedly thrashed him severely, with one of them using a belt.

Jog, who works closely with Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

The assault has sparked outrage among local residents and BJP workers, who have demanded swift action against the perpetrators. The police have assured that they will take strict action against those involved in the assault.
