In a significant move ahead of the Assembly elections, the Special Surveillance Team (SST) intercepted an MG Hector (MH 42 BJ 9811) at Mangari Phata on Solapur Road, Pune, at 4:00 pm today, seizing ₹22.90 lakh. The vehicle owner, Bhaktumal Nevadamal Sukheja, a grain trader and owner of Anil Trading Company, claimed he was transporting the cash to deposit it in a bank at Market Yard.
Sukheja, a resident of Siddhatek Road, Daund, is currently under scrutiny as the authorities investigate the source and intended use of the seized amount. The SST’s swift action has sparked a preliminary inquiry, with the Income Tax Department and Sales Tax Department informed and further investigation underway.
This crackdown underscores the authorities’ commitment to curbing suspicious transactions and ensuring electoral integrity. The SST’s vigilance aims to prevent illegal funding and maintain transparency in the electoral process.
