A tragic incident occurred in Karnataka’s Hassan district, where IPS officer Harshvardhan Singh died in a road accident while traveling to assume his first posting. The accident took place on Sunday evening when the car he was traveling in suffered a tire burst, causing it to go out of control.

Harshvardhan, a 26-year-old officer of the 2023 batch Karnataka cadre, was a resident of Madhya Pradesh. He was on his way to Hassan to report for duty as a probationary assistant superintendent of police in Holenarsipur. The driver suffered minor injuries, but Harshvardhan died due to severe head injuries .

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed condolences to the officer’s family, stating that it’s sad that such an accident happened when Harshvardhan was about to take charge as an IPS officer .b
