Mourning the Loss of Pune Police’s Brave Canine Officer, Leo
Pune Police bid a tearful farewell to their loyal canine officer, Leo, who passed away on Tuesday. Leo, a Labrador breed dog, was an integral part of the Pune Police’s Sniffer Dog Squad and played a crucial role in detecting narcotics and conducting investigations.
Leo’s impressive career spanned over six years, during which he successfully helped the police seize significant amounts of narcotics, including 50 kg of ganja and mefedron. He was also instrumental in conducting regular checks at railway stations, bus stands, and the Yerwada Jail.
The brave canine officer was trained to detect narcotics and was known for his exceptional skills. He also conducted demo presentations for the Indian Army and schools.
Leo’s demise has left the police department, especially the Sniffer Dog Squad, in a state of mourning. His funeral was attended by senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale, Assistant Police Commissioner, and other officers.
Leo will be deeply missed by his colleagues and the people of Pune. His dedication and service to the police department will always be remembered.
