A security guard at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been at the center of controversy after allegedly insulting the Marathi language. The guard reportedly said “Marathi gaya tel lagane!” or “Marathi people are useless,” which sparked outrage among Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers.
The incident occurred at an L&T office in Powai, Mumbai. A video of the incident went viral, showing MNS workers scolding the guard for not speaking Marathi. The guard claimed he didn’t know Marathi, but the MNS workers insisted he learn the language. Following which – MNS workers thrashed the guard and forced him to apologize for his remarks. – The incident has sparked a debate about language and regional pride in Maharashtra.
