Clash at Shivaji Nagar Metro Station: NCP Sharad Pawar Group’s Protest Turns Violent

A recruitment-related protest led by the NCP Sharad Pawar group took a violent turn at the Shivaji Nagar Metro Station in Pune on Sunday. The protesters, associated with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharadchandra Pawar faction, disrupted metro services by storming the tracks, causing widespread inconvenience in the area.

Despite police efforts to persuade them to vacate the tracks, the protesters became aggressive, charging at the police, hurling petrol, and verbally abusing them. Some even assaulted officers by grabbing their uniforms, which was condemned by law enforcement as “unacceptable.”

DCP Sandeep Singh Gill (Zone 1) vowed strict action, stating, “Grabbing the police uniform is a grave offense. We will ensure strict legal action is taken against all those involved.” The police swiftly arrested the culprits on the spot.

The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the conduct of protests in sensitive urban areas. An investigation is underway, with authorities promising accountability for the disruptions and violence caused.

The NCP Sharad Pawar group, led by Sharadchandra Pawar, is a faction of the Nationalist Congress Party that was formed after the Election Commission of India recognized the group led by Ajit Pawar as the original NCP .
