Pune: 21 Seniors Defrauded Under the Pretense of Help; Karnataka Thief Arrested

Pune Police have arrested an accused who defrauded senior citizens by swapping their ATM cards. The accused has been identified as Raju Pralhad Kulkarni (54) from Mysuru, Karnataka. Authorities have seized valuables worth ₹13,90,700 and 166 ATM cards from him.

Kulkarni targeted senior citizens withdrawing money from ATMs, pretending to assist them. He would steal their ATM cards after learning their PIN numbers and then hand them expired or invalid cards, claiming the ATM was not working. Using the stolen cards, he withdrew money fraudulently.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), Sandeep Singh Gill, an incident was reported in the jurisdiction of Vishrambaug Police Station on February 2, where a senior citizen was defrauded at an ATM in Ganjwe Chowk. During technical investigations, it was found that Kulkarni was behind the crime. Further investigation is ongoing.
