Two Arrested for Objectionable Social Media Posts Against Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chief Rupali Chakankar

Mumbai – Two individuals have been arrested for repeatedly posting objectionable, obscene, and defamatory content against Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, on social media.

The accused have been identified as Akash Digambar Dalve (30, resident of Yavale, Mohol Taluka, Solapur District) and Avinash Bapu Pukale (30, resident of Pare Kokrewadi, Sangola Taluka, Solapur District).

The offensive posts were allegedly shared on a Facebook page titled “Rajkaran Maharashtrache” (Politics of Maharashtra), prompting the Commission to file a formal complaint with the police.

Mumbai Cyber Police have registered a case under sections 78, 79, 351(3), 351(4), 61(2) BNS of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67A of the Information Technology Act. Dalve was apprehended in the Mohol Police jurisdiction, while Pukale was arrested from Uruli Kanchan.

Both accused will be presented today before the 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Girgaon. Previously, nine other individuals were detained for questioning in connection with the case, and further investigations are ongoing.
