Pune Police Crack Down on Nylon Manja Sales
The Pune Police have taken action against a 20-year-old youth, Yogesh Shatrudhan Shah, for selling nylon manja, a type of kite string, in the Singhgad Road area. The police seized 11 reels of nylon manja worth ₹6,500 from Shah.
According to the police, they received a tip-off about Shah selling nylon manja near the Siddhi Classic Building in Vadgaon Budruk. A team led by Police Sub-Inspector Amol Patil raided the spot and found Shah in possession of the banned kite string.
Shah has been booked under sections 223, 125 of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, and sections 5, 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Shinde.
It’s worth noting that the sale of nylon manja is banned in many parts of India due to its harmful effects on birds and humans. The Pune Police’s action is a step towards enforcing this ban and ensuring public safety.
